5th Annual Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race: Run, Kayak & Bike in the North Georgia Mountains

Imagine running through miles of Chattahoochee National Forest trails, navigating white water rapids, mountain biking steep, rocky terrain and racing to a finish line after six to seven hours of exhilaration and challenging mystery events! Can you and your team survive the 5th Annual Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race? Find out on April 20, 2002 in Blue Ridge, Georgia as participants and sports fans enjoy a weekend of adventure and fun.
Participants of this “Sprint Adventure Race” will include sixty-five coed teams of three plus one support team person, who run the Benton MacKaye trail, canoe the Toccoa River, mountain bike the Aska trail system and compete in multiple “Mystery Events.” The competition kicks off at 8:00 a.m. as the teams run across the historic Shallowford Bridge above the Toccoa River.
Fans line Aska Road to watch the athletes return under the bridge by canoe for their first mystery event, and then catch whitewater and mountain bike action along the race route. In the afternoon, everyone makes their way to the finish line in Historic Downtown Blue Ridge, where the fans can explore shops and galleries, enjoy live music, art, antiques, food, festivities and family fun. Cheer on the teams as they survive the last mystery event and end in the city park. The awards ceremony is at 4:00 p.m. Parking and admission are free.
